Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Dr. Helia Dashtkian attended Stony Brook University’s School of Medicine and was studying to become a Pharmacologist, a major she chose in order to blend her strengths in Biology and Chemistry. It was in her senior year that she noticed her occasional headaches had turned into daily migraines and it was affecting her ability to focus and get school work done. Ingesting Tylenol every day was becoming an unhealthy habit and there needed to be a better solution.
It was not until a family member recommended she go to a Chiropractor that she discovered the Chiropractic profession. After the Chiropractor showed her x-rays of her neck and pointed out the misalignment of the top 2 vertebrae in her upper cervical spine, Dr. Helia realized the true cause of her migraines. A series of specific adjustments in her neck later, she noticed her migraines were not coming back and at that moment decided to change career paths and become a Chiropractor. Her firsthand experience made her want to get into a profession that took patients off of pain pills, instead of making more of them. To this day her senior year of college was the last time Dr. Helia took Tylenol or any pain pills.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Health Sciences from Stony Brook University, Dr. Helia immediately enrolled in Life University in Atlanta, GA and later graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She found her passion in family chiropractic care and completed post graduate studies in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. With her scientific background, she analyzed the Webster Technique for its safety and efficacy during pregnancy and published her research in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal and Family Health.
After she graduated the Doctor of Chiropractic program in 2010 and completed all of her national board and state licensing exams, Dr. Helia moved to Jupiter, Florida and opened Jupiter Family Chiropractic in 2011. Applying specific manual adjusting techniques and blending her knowledge of Gonstead, Toggle, and Thompson techniques, she is able to deliver the best adjustment tailored for each patient. Over the years, she has taken care of athletes, seniors, expecting mothers and children with subluxation-based Chiropractic care.
Dr. Helia Dashtkian is happily married and lives in the Jupiter area with her husband. They enjoy being involved in their community. She frequently volunteers with her church and connects with other health care professionals in the area to deliver the best standard of care to all of her patients.
